PTFE envelope gaskets have the chemical resistance of PTFE, but the strength and resilience of the inlay material. They are mainly applied as flange gaskets in mild to severely corrosive environments. Since PTFE is an inert material, it may also be used in direct contact with food (FDA approval).
Vanéflon supplies standard off-the-shelf PTFE envelopes or custom made to your specifications. The envelopes are produced in any desired size or shape, even rectangular. There are several types available: straight U-envelope (for average to high pressure), rounded U-envelope (for more flexible inserts), C-envelope with diffusion stop (gasket with 3 mm thick diffusion stop), double U-envelope (for high pressure, applied in places where the medium may contact the upper side of the seal), V-envelope (for lower pressures, the inlay material is up to 2 mm thick).
Key properties
Good chemical resistance
Wide temperature range. This depends on the envelope/inlay material
Good pressure resistance (depending on inlay material)
Applications
Flange gaskets in the chemical industry/process industry
